【Media Coverage】China Enterprise News | Wei Zhen: AI technology empowerment provides core support for the construction of a manufacturing power
At a time when the global supply chain is full of variables, building an independent and controllable industrial ecology and realizing the localization and substitution of key technologies have become the focus of the development of China's scientific research institutions and technology-based enterprises. Wei Zhen, deputy to the National People's Congress and chairman of Hefei University of Technology Hi-Tech Information Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Tech"), was interviewed by a reporter from China Enterprise Daily on related topics during the two sessions of the National People's Congress.

The in-depth application of AI technology in heavy industries such as mining and transportation is reconstructing the operation paradigm of traditional industries. Its strategic value is significantly reflected in the four dimensions of building a digital defense line for safe production, reshaping a new benchmark for industrial efficiency, building an independent and controllable industrial ecology, and giving birth to a new paradigm of digital economy. In 2024, the AI behavior monitoring system and unmanned driving system of intelligent mine drivers of the University of Technology will complete the adaptation with the domestic software and hardware platforms, which will not only enhance the core competitiveness of the enterprise, but also contribute to the independent and controllable industrial system of China.
Wei Zhen said that at present, AI technology has evolved from single-point empowerment to system reconstruction, giving birth to many national intelligent manufacturing demonstration factories, and promoting traditional industries from "scale dividend" to "intelligent dividend". In the process of industrial automation to intelligent transformation, the University of Technology has always stood at the forefront of technological innovation, with profound technical accumulation and keen market insight, to explore the road of AI-driven industrial upgrading.
"Building a strong digital line of defense for safe production" is one of the core goals of the University of Technology. According to Wei Zhen, the Maxvision F1.0 industrial vision model independently developed by the University of Technology Hi-Tech can monitor the status of equipment, personnel behavior and potential safety hazards in real time in complex industrial environments such as coal mines, non-coal mines, and railway transportation, and on the basis of ensuring production safety, it can also intelligently analyze data to provide a basis for decision-making. Recently, the product has been docked with a series of large models such as DeepSeek-R1, DeepSeek-V3, and Janus-Pro, which has promoted key technological innovations such as industrial machine vision, unmanned driving, and intelligent equipment operation and maintenance to a large extent, demonstrating the leading position of the University of Technology in the industry.
Wei Zhen said that in the intelligent transformation of the manufacturing industry, the University of Technology takes the improvement of industrial efficiency as an important indicator. Taking the "unmanned driving and logistics control system for mine multi-vehicle transportation" as an example, the system integrates artificial intelligence algorithms, big data analysis and other technologies to realize accurate monitoring and intelligent scheduling of the whole process of mine transportation, achieve the level of unmanned transportation, and greatly shorten the production cycle and reduce energy consumption. At present, the product has been promoted and applied in dozens of large-scale mines in China, and Xinhua News Agency and other media have reported its application results in Minmetals Group, Shanneng Group, Shanxi Coal Group, Huaibei Mining Group and other enterprises.

It is reported that this innovative technology has reduced the number of people in a single shift of the mine by about 20%, increased the transportation efficiency by about 20% on average, and increased the dispatching efficiency by about 22%. In addition, the unmanned driving and automatic encoding and decoding technology of industrial railways of the University of Technology has entered the stage of engineering verification, which will continue the advantages of the company's all-electronic computer interlocking system and contribute to the "less people and no one" on the industrial site.
With the wide application of AI technology, industrial manufacturing is moving towards digitalization, networking, and intelligence. Taking industrial railway inspection as an example, in the past, workers inspected on foot, which was labor-intensive and inefficient, and it was difficult to meet the needs of modern industry. Today, with the help of the industrial intelligent O&M platform, the equipment status is monitored online in real time, and the data flow transmits equipment changes to the O&M center, which greatly reduces labor costs, improves O&M efficiency, and enhances the stability and reliability of industrial production.
Wei Zhen believes that this change is a revolution in efficiency and a sublimation of man-machine cooperation, which has greatly promoted the industrial civilization from the "sweat economy" to the "smart economy" and injected vitality into the development of the digital economy.
"The application of AI technology by enterprises represented by the University of Technology is providing core support for the construction of a manufacturing power in many aspects, leading the industry to develop in the direction of higher quality and intelligence, playing an important role in building an independent and controllable industrial ecology and promoting the development of the digital economy, and also winning greater advantages and development space for China's manufacturing industry in global competition." Wei Zhen said.
